Brian Stow Update: Positive News

According to ESPN, although Brian Stow remains in a medically induced coma, his father has reported that his condition is stable and that Stow’s vital signs are “looking good.” In the meantime, the Police are following several leads concerning the attackers, including many people claiming that they recognize the composite sketches, and others overhearing persons admitting to being the attackers. The reward is currently at approximately $100,000, and expected to increase shortly.

Although recovery is the main concern, politicians in Los Angeles are not helping the Dodgers’ prospects at defending what is certain to be a lawsuit filed by Stow. Councilman Dennis Zine said that the 200 off-duty police officers hired by the Dodgers are “not nearly enough.” Zine told AOL News that Dodger Stadium is attracting more “gang-type individuals.” This follows LA County Supervisor Mike Antonovich’s calls for increased security and stricter rules regarding the sale of alcohol earlier this week. In response to the attack, the Dodgers announced that they will hire former LAPD Chief William Bratton to assess the security procedures at the stadium and parking lot.

One thing - actually many - I don't understand. Reports are that 100 people witnessed this beating and NO ONE did anything. Just stood by and watched?

Nick - April 11, 2011 3:44 PM

Where did you get that information Anne? I have been unable to understand how this could have possibly happened in the middle of a Dodger's parking lot directly following the game and nobody did anything to help this man until these sick people had finished beating him up?!

Any links to further reading or the police reports would be great.

My thoughts are with you Brian Stow, you are in all of our prayers. Here's to a full recovery!

I was at that game. Decidedly hostile crowd. We (giants fans) went to look for our seats. Not only was there no usher in the seating entrance (shocking, I always see ushers in other ML ballparks), but groups of fans got up to chant at us while we sat. It was almost like they fostered such a negative environment. Ushers need to at least tell people to quiet down and not harass paying customers. We actually bought our first 2 beers, and were so turned off, we purchased nothing else, but we were prepared to spend more.

Wow what a suprise! Dodger fans bulling us Giants fans? Every game, it does'nt matter if its in LA or SF...they seem to have a lack of sportsmenship and a high level of ignorance. I have been to both ball parks and just dont understand why "fans" would even think of beating a Giant fan just to have a another day at the park? Being a Giants girl for over 25 years I have experinced the "stick" and all the Real excitement of the rivalry that dates way back. Seems this new gang of Dodger fans dont even understand sports? Only stupidity! Hang in there Brian we are all here to support you. I have been very proud of the Giants organization/fans getting together with his family to help out. Something Dodger fans wouldnt understand ..... losers..Beat LA not the FANS

You must remember that a Giants fan was murdered in the same parking lot 2-3 years ago still nothing happened long term. This has not happened in San Francisco just in Los Angeles. This ballpark needs to be properly policed as the people perpetrating these attacks obviously feel safe to do so at that park. The Dodger organization should pay every unpaid bill for that family.
